Israeli Ambassador Ron Prosor visited Wetzlar, Hesse, for two days to get to know the "capital of Christian media." In addition to a formal reception by the city, the program included a panel discussion and background talks with representatives of Christian organizations.

The Gaza Strip, ruled by the terrorist organization Hamas, is the only place in the world that has declared the annihilation of the Jewish people a "state objective." This was emphasized by Israel's ambassador Ron Prosor on Monday at a reception in the city of Wetzlar with Mayor Manfred Wagner (SPD). Such a thing has not occurred in Germany since the Nazi era, Prosor said.

The ambassador warned against forgetting what really happened on October 7th. The people in his country are still traumatized after the Hamas massacre. Israel does not have a choice, but must defend itself and now dismantle Hamas's terrorist infrastructure and its leadership so that something new can be built. Hamas alone is responsible for the war and the situation in the Gaza Strip; there can be no "blame-blame reversal," the ambassador said. Mayor Wagner emphasized his city's unequivocal support for the State of Israel and its right to self-defense.

The ambassador had come to the central Hessian city for two days at the invitation of the organization "Christians on the side of Israel" (Herrenberg) as well as the Wetzlar media companies Christian Media Initiative pro, "ERF - The Meaningful Broadcaster" and Evangelical News Agency IDEA.

Following the visit, he wrote on X:

Luca Hezel, chairman of Christians Standing with Israel (CSI), said after the visit: “The reception of the Israeli ambassador in Wetzlar, thanks to the cooperation of the hosting organizations, was a thoroughly successful event and resulted in many happy and encouraged faces. May it be the start of further blessed developments!”

Josias Terschüren, head of the Politics and Society department at CSI, stated that the ambassador's visit to Wetzlar demonstrated once again how close the relationship between Christians in Germany and the State of Israel has become. "Especially after the massacre of October 7, Christian organizations and media play a crucial role in courageously and clearly taking a stand against the rapidly increasing antisemitism and mendacious narratives, and in jointly advocating for biblical and democratic values and beliefs," Terschüren said.
