The Jewish Agency, an Israeli immigrant organization supported by Christians Standing with Israel (CSI) , recorded a massive increase in immigration to Israel in 2024. At the same time, it implemented various measures to strengthen and improve the safety of Jewish life in the face of rising antisemitism worldwide.
Despite the war in the Middle East, tens of thousands of Jews made Aliyah last year, the Hebrew term for immigration to Israel. As the Jewish Agency announced on December 29, 2024, a total of 35,000 Jews from approximately 100 countries have immigrated to Israel since the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7, 2023. One-third of them are between 18 and 35 years old. The Jewish Agency also reports a significant increase in immigration inquiries, particularly from Western countries.
Mobilization of Diaspora Jews
The Jewish Agency succeeded in mobilizing Jews living in the Diaspora – that is, outside of Israel – so that a total of approximately 21 million EUR in donations could be generated, which benefited around 11,000 families affected by terrorism in Israel in the form of emergency grants and reconstruction aid.
Since October 7, the Jewish Agency, together with its partners, has also supported over 8000 war-affected companies with immediate aid and emergency loans totaling approximately 94 million EUR.
Campaign against antisemitism
In light of rising antisemitism worldwide, the Jewish Agency sent more than 2,300 emissaries to 65 countries last year to strengthen Jewish communities. The emissaries also helped to mobilize global support for Israel and raise awareness for the release of the hostages.
More than 100 of the delegates worked particularly at large North American universities to empower Jewish students on campus.
In addition, 87 officers and soldiers who fought in the war traveled to dozens of destinations in North America, Europe, Latin America and other countries to speak from their perspective about the events of October 7.
In 2024, the Jewish Agency's Security Fund invested the equivalent of approximately €5 million in strengthening and improving the security of Jewish communities in 62 countries. This included the purchase of reinforced doors and surveillance cameras.
Solidarity of Jews worldwide
“The mutual commitment between Jews worldwide and in Israel is a beacon of hope in one of the most difficult times in our shared history,” the Jerusalem Post Jewish Agency Director Yehuda Setton as saying. “We have worked together to strengthen Israel in the shadow of war and to ensure the safety of Jewish communities following waves of antisemitism around the world. The Jewish Agency will continue to expand the strategic partnership between Diaspora Jews and Israel, enabling every Jew in the world to participate in building our shared future.”
