In light of the devastating floods in several German states, Israel has offered Germany support. President Yitzhak Herzog wrote to German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Saturday.

In the letter, he expressed his "friendship and condolences." He prayed for the dead, injured, and missing of the disaster. Israel would stand by Germany and provide assistance in every possible way. A special sign of solidarity was shown on Sunday evening by the city of Tel Aviv-Jaffa: Mayor Ron Huldai illuminated the city hall in the colors of the German flag.
