Starting March 1, 2022, tourists will be allowed to enter Israel again – regardless of whether they are vaccinated against COVID-19 or not. This was announced on Sunday by Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz.
Under the new guidelines, tourists of all ages are allowed to enter Israel, provided they present a negative PCR test before arrival and take another PCR test after landing in Israel.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Israel closed its borders to foreigners for the first time in March 2020. So far, only tourists vaccinated against COVID-19 are allowed to enter Israel.
Prime Minister Bennett said of the easing of restrictions: “We are seeing a steady decline in the mortality rate. We were the first to close the skies to travelers. Now we see it as time to gradually reopen them.” The Prime Minister further emphasized: “To maintain public confidence and ensure that the citizens of Israel comply with the government’s guidelines and decisions, we must open up as the situation improves—and it is improving significantly.”
