“Mysterious explosion in Donetsk,” “Pro-Russian rebel leader in Donetsk announces ‘general mobilization’,” “Biden convinced that invasion is a done deal for Putin” – these are just some of the headlines from the news coverage of the past few hours. In short: The situation in Ukraine is beginning to spiral out of control.
Naturally, these rapid developments have a direct impact on the work of our employees on site.

Next Steps
“Our priority now is to pack and distribute food parcels,” says Koen Carlier, head of the Ukraine team. “Since January, our team has been able to distribute 5,000 parcels; now we are working on the next 5,000. We are also constantly monitoring the situation at the airports so that Ukrainian Jews can continue to travel to Israel.”.
Furthermore, we are preparing emergency shelters in western Ukraine where we could provide short-term accommodation for hundreds of Jewish refugees on their way to Israel in the event of a Russian invasion. It is expected that the number of people wishing to leave will continue to rise sharply – and with it, the requests for transportation to the Israeli embassy and airports.
What gives us strength is the knowledge that the "Mighty One of Israel" holds everything in His hands. As Corrie ten Boom once so beautifully put it:
"Don't be afraid to entrust your unknown future to a known God."
