The US is intervening in the war between Israel and Iran. Several Iranian nuclear facilities were reportedly destroyed in American attacks on Sunday night.
The US attacked nuclear facilities in Iran overnight on Sunday. US President Donald Trump confirmed this on TruthSocial. The Republican wrote: "A full bomb load was dropped on the main Fordow facility." The Natanz and Isfahan facilities were also reportedly bombed. Early Sunday morning, Trump described the operation as a "very successful military operation." He said the facilities had been destroyed. Iran must now choose the path of peace, otherwise the country faces even greater destruction.
According to media reports, the US deployed several B-2 stealth bombers. Only these aircraft can drop the GBU-57A/B MOP bunker-buster bombs. The US is the only country in the world to possess these bombs, which weigh approximately 13,600 kilograms. Experts had previously suspected that only the GBU-57A/B MOP could destroy Iran's deep underground nuclear facilities. US journalists also report that several submarines were involved in the attacks and launched up to 30 cruise missiles at the targets.
Iran has also confirmed the attacks. According to state media, the facilities were "damaged." The regime threatened consequences. The Houthis in Yemen also condemned the attack, calling it a "brutal and cowardly act of aggression.".
Rockets aimed at Israel
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (Likud) called the attack a "courageous decision" with "historic significance." He said Trump had acted with "great strength" and described the attack as a turning point that could bring peace and prosperity to the entire region.
In its initial response to the attack, Iran fired at least 30 missiles at Israel. Several missiles reportedly landed, including in Haifa and Tel Aviv. The Jerusalem Post reports at least 86 people injured.
No radiation
The US attack did not release any radiation outside the facilities, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA): "Following attacks on three nuclear facilities in Iran – including Fordow – the IAEA can confirm that no increase in radiation levels outside the facilities has been reported so far," the agency announced early this morning on X.
