War in the Middle East: Praying for peace and protection

In the early morning hours of February 28, Israel, together with the USA, launched a coordinated preemptive strike against numerous targets in Iran. In light of this new war, we as Christians wish to unite in prayer and invite you to join us.

Israeli officials have stated that Operation Roaring Lion was launched in response to intelligence indicating an imminent missile and drone attack from Iran. The Iranian leadership, which has supported armed groups in the region for decades, has continued its pursuit of nuclear capabilities despite international pressure. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly stressed that Iran must not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons, warning that such a development would endanger the entire world.

Following the Israeli-American preemptive strike, Iran has launched extensive retaliatory measures, firing missiles at Israel and attacking US bases in Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates. Israel has declared a nationwide state of emergency and ordered civilians to stay near air-raid shelters as the situation continues to escalate.

We ask you to pray for Israel and the Middle East! Let us pray:

  • For the protection of the Israeli population and for wisdom for Israel's decision-makers.
  • For the people of Iran who have no influence over the decisions of their rulers and are now confronted with the consequences of their regime's policies: May they be freed from oppression and be able to live in peace with their neighbors.
  • For the soldiers and reservists in Israel who are exhausted and burned out after two years of war and now have to go back into action.
  • For the protection of Israel's neighbors and the Arab states in the region, who are now forced to reposition themselves. May their leaders make decisions that will benefit their people and Israel as well.
  • To protect the Jewish communities in Germany and worldwide, who are facing increased danger due to the war.

Pray for Israel online with other Christians

Prayer is our personal source of strength – and at the same time, it brings about tangible change in this world. How precious it is that God empowers us with the authority to stand up for Israel and the nations. For this reason, we gather online for prayer every weekday. Together, we want to raise our voices for the people of Iran and continue to faithfully strengthen the people of Israel. You are warmly invited to join us for this time of prayer.

Monday / Wednesday / Friday: 7:30 a.m.
Tuesday / Thursday: 7:00 p.m.

Here you can find out how to participate in the Zoom prayer: Prayer for Israel .

You can also find suggestions and daily prayer requests in our prayer calendar , which we send out by email at the beginning of each month.

As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people from this time forth and forevermore. ( Psalm 125:2)
