A statement from Christians standing with Israel

Christians standing with Israel strongly criticize the German government's plan to provide an additional 18 million euros in funding to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). Enough is enough! We are appalled that the Foreign Office is still clinging to this disastrously misguided policy. UNRWA is not a partner for peace, but rather part of the problem in Gaza.

During the Gaza War, a close structural and personnel link between the supposedly humanitarian aid organization UNRWA and the terrorist organization Hamas came to light. UNRWA staff were among the terrorists who perpetrated the largest massacre of Jews in Israel since the Holocaust on October 7, 2023. According to the non-governmental organization UN Watch, thousands celebrated the bloodshed in a Telegram channel of 3,000 UNRWA teachers. Even among the hostage-takers were UNRWA staff members, such as Faisal Ali Mussalem al-Naami, who, as reported by the Jewish weekly newspaper Jüdische Allgemeine, took the body of Israeli Yonatan Samerano to Gaza.

The continued funding of UNRWA is therefore not only a moral bankruptcy, but also directly contradicts the coalition agreement, which tied further payments to "comprehensive reforms." These reforms have not materialized. The public will no longer be fooled by the old trick of selling cosmetic measures as reforms, as was done, for example, in the Colonna Report. German taxpayers' money has no place in the hands of Hamas accomplices. There is no face-saving way to give further funds to this discredited aid organization.

Seek alternative ways to get help

Sweden has proven that alternative ways of providing necessary humanitarian aid exist. Since December of last year, it has suspended all payments to UNRWA and has instead supported other, uncompromised aid organizations on the ground.

We urge the German government to follow Sweden's example and distribute the planned 18 million euros to the needy civilian population through other organizations and channels, such as the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. Anything else would be a blatant admission of failure and yet another broken promise by this German government.
